Welcome. A moment-to-moment story...

An appeal to Lowe's

This past week residents of Lynn and Salem, Ma received a petition from Lowe's to sign what the Development thinks is a good solution for Lynn, Salem and the environment by creating a green building and investing in traffic flow.  First I'ld like to say the petition seems not fair (maybe illegal) since Lowe's did not mention they are planning on tearing away the woods and wetlands :(

Believe what you will, but a green building cannot replace nature.   It will be a tragedy to nature and a non-profit outdoor space if these pristine woods and wetlands are lost forever.  Pouring a 'green' foundation wall on a wetland and torn down wooded area is not being very 'green' to the environment.  Making a 'cool green roof' on a building can not justify to replace the life of the rooted natural grounds which grow trees and beautiful flora as a habitat for birds and animals.  A high-efficient HVAC building system can not replace the quality outdoor air people have to breath without adding more traffic pollution.  Creating a building to replace a habitat?... where will all the animals go?

How can this project help traffic congestion?  Traffic is almost dense and how will it really help if it is simply doubled by the developments of Super Wal-mart and Lowe's?  I am not sure how many jobs these developments will create.  Or how many jobs will be lost and transferred from surrounding slow businesses once these stores open?   I am not sure why these corporations can not find another site which will not have a negative impact on the community and the environment.

Peace.

Here is what was sent to residents...

  1. You should ask the people in Danvers who live behind that Lowe's how good of a neighbor they were... trucks unloading all hours of the night while the engines were left running... amongst a million other things. It made living there almost impossible, yet dropped their property values so they couldn't sell and move. Great neighbors!

  5. i love lowes. I framed the flyer and put it on my wall. It's ok, despite all your hate they will still let you shop there once they open their doors. Maybe you can get a part time job there! Not only will it be $$, it will help redirect your free time away from all of this negativity!

  6. Just to be fair to the other readers: Goody, briand, and some other pro-Walmart/Lowes commentators on this blog are the same person.

  7. briand sounds like an extremely intelligent individual with world class framing capabilities but must be so very sad to live so close to Swampscott but still be forced to pay Lynn taxes that he sometimes claims to be from there. Oh buck up lil' guy, picking on others will make you feel better about that... Your wife too :(

  9. It will also take away jobs and close other stores. Something else not mentioned in the brochure.

  10. Propaganda! There's already a forest here. There's no need to plant a small tree.
