Welcome. A moment-to-moment story...

Salem Public Meeting

Many think this cause is going well, that the City of Lynn will sue and take care of it; that Spring Pond Advocates are working on it; that this project sounds like it will never pass considering all the impacts....
but we all need YOUR HELP. Please help make some noise.
Reminder: The Salem Planning Board meeting is tonight!

The Salem News has asked the Salem Planning Board to "..not allow itself unduly pressure from politicians, wildlife advocates and others..".  Please come to the Salem Public Meeting, even if You just want to listen.

  1. The Salem news editorial asked the Salem Planning Board to not listen to the neighbors or the wildlife advocates. What is going on here?

  2. What happened to Democracy?
Why are the people having a difficult time being heard?
Why should people be called "selfish" for protecting their homes?
How can Corporations be a priority over people?
Why are wildlife advocates all the sudden unamerican?

  3. How is Mayor Kim going to listen? She lies. She lied when she said the deal was only between 2 private parties. How is Camp Lion going to listen? They lie too!

  5. Yes. The discussion didn't occur till 9 or so, and ended around 11pm.
    It is being continued.

Again no traffic solutions. waste of time again. And the issues for Marlborough Rd were skipped over because that is a whole other issue. Mass DOT needs to get involved for both this side and the Lynn side of the issue.

A large group from the electrical and plumbers unions were there. They turned and spoke in favor of the project thinking a contract would be in the deal.

New Salem residents appeared and spoke. Salem City Councilors all spoke in favor. It seems everyone saw the new clever video because mention of "Text Amendment" was widely used, but not explained very well as to why it was done this way.

  7. I'm not sure now. I clearly remember the plumbers union turning. There was another union there. maybe electrical. but all the union people spoke for the project. weird

  9. It seems that is how the unions work. if they think there is no work for them they oppose if they think there is work they are for it...Hmmm

  10. The unions are being used for the ride to gain the vocal support in the hearings. Then when it comes to the end, they will get the boot. I've seen it a million times.

  11. If you (the unions) burn the candle from both ends your bound to get burnt.

I guess we just have to wait some more.

Any idea when the next meeting will be?

  12. the next meeting is Sept 30, same time, same place

To Unions : take a lesson from other unions that have found no luck with Walmart or Lowe's. check out wakeupwalmart.com for more facts and research on labor. You'll change your minds again.

  13. I read a story about 10-12 years ago about the unions trying to get into a meatpacking plant that wal mart started up. Long story short, the union won and wal mart closed the plant.
