Welcome. A moment-to-moment story...

Hawk's nest

Here is a photo submitted by Joan Forte, of two Hawks sitting near their nest in a wetland area.  This nest is not on Camp Lion's property, but is located somewhere in the woods, within the borders of the historic Crowninshield/ Fay Estate around Spring Pond.  Shouldn't we believe the importance of these woods for soaring wildlife is a crucial habitat?

A conservationist, Leslie Courtemanche has been keeping a record log of wildlife sightings since the 90's and is working on trying to make the wooded areas around Spring Pond an Important Bird Site.  Nominations are not open at the moment, but her records have been submitted to Mass Audubon.

Linda Pivacek, a conservationist and member of the Brookline Bird Club is working on a program by the Mass Audubon to record important bird sightings in these areas.  Linda's sightings of various rare birds include the Turkey Vulture, which have been seen among other birds soaring high over the skies.

In this second photo, the Hawk's feather is shown through the glass of a vehicle after it was collected off the ground.

Here is an interesting bulletin from 1947, to the Lynn Bird Club expressing the need of importance to 'get busy' recording bird sightings at Spring Pond.  If they did or not back then, we need to continue the field studies now.
