Welcome. A moment-to-moment story...

Facts... True or False?

Back in the spring, on May 12, 2010, a letter was received from a Camp Lion board member asking to state the facts.  So here we are.

These are the facts as submitted:
  • Camp Fire is getting a new facility.  ( True or False? )
  • This deal was approved by the entire Camp Lion Membership.  (True or False? - According to sources the older members did not want this deal.  Who is who?)
  • "We made sure that the developer addressed ALL concerns of the neighbors"  (True or False? - Is this development listening to the petition outcry?  There is no solution for the problems this will cause.  People love these woods of trails. Please end this deal now then! )
  • The City of Salem could of taken the land away by eminent domain.  (no comment - Well maybe  the Camp could enlist to conserve the land forever.)
  • A $150,000 per year will go to local youth organizations.  ( Does the camp know there are grants by the state and other places to conserve this Non-Profit Open Space forever, and help 400 children not loose their camp.  Did they figure the $$$ a new camp facility costs, and the change of tax status?  What is the sale of the land benefiting? )
  • The deal cannot be stopped, it is a signed contract.  ( True or False? - Show us the contract.)

Was the sender of the letter misinformed or are these facts misinforming or true?

  3. The new Camp Fire Facility will be in Lowe's. The children get to hike the aisles, and use the lumber yard to roast marshmallow's with a great site of walmart down the hill.

  4. The last thing the area needs is a lowes or a walmart supercenter there are many other locations that would suit both companies. It seems when there is such a nice place like springs pond and the beautiful woods around it that these massive companies just rush in to wreck the surroundings and cause all kinds of problems its time for them to lay off and stay clear for once and for all
