Welcome. A moment-to-moment story...

Sprawl Busters helps the fight to preserve land

Norman of Sprawl-Busters writes about the political issues happening here:

He also writes what one can do
A quote from a letter, urging Salem Mayor Kimberley Driscoll to hear the great concern and opposition to this project from the neighbors in Lynn - "This is a regional land use project, and if you put a sign over Wal-Mart’s door which read: ‘Salem residents only,’ the Wal-Mart would close within six months."

And Norman has a suggestion
"...tell Wal-Mart to simply reformat their existing store into a supercenter. This is called an ‘inbox conversion,’ and doesn’t require site plan review or any other permit, and does not waste any more acreage."

"It’s a logical solution, and one which Wal-Mart has done with other expansion projects that have run into strong opposition. The fact is you don’t need more Wal-Marts. There’s one a few miles away in Danvers, and one on the Lynnway. Help Wal-Mart learn to live within the box.”

  2. Norman makes sense. Learn to live in the box. walmart wants wider aisles. this was one excuse they used. their aisles are wide enough. the rest of the retail space is sufficient for them.

Traffic may still be a concern, but not if Lowe's is not built.

  7. Wal-Mart wants wider aisles so they can have bigger shopping carts so people can buy more lead-laden junk from China that they don't need and will throw away in a few months and add to all the garbage in the world. The aisles also have to be bigger to accomodate America's growing "girth" as we eat the fake junk these places pass off as food, and exercise less and less.
The FAT and the WASTE of Wal-mart is symbolic of how our beloved country is getting to be. RISE UP! STAND UP! FIGHT THIS INSANITY. THIS WEEK-END GO UP TO CAMP LION AND WALK AROUND AND ENJOY THE TRUE PLEASURES OF LIFE. DON'T GO TO WAL-MART THIS WEEK-END. GO WALKING INSTEAD.
