Here is a request sent in by someone...
"If anyone is traveling to New Hampshire--please take a picture of Lowe's in Rochester, NH, Route 16 southbound lane so we can present it at the next Planning Board Meeting. They blew the top off a mountain, re-configured Route 16 and it is a disgusting MESS. Unbelievable traffic now and Lowe's rises above all else and half of the remaining mountain is rip-rap stone leading into a mosquitoe-infested detention pond. This is what Highland Ave. will look like. Go take a picture so we can show reality!"
Actually there is no traffic and its pretty nice looking. Grew up around there and and drive by it at least once a month. Made for lots of jobs locally that were needed. My sister who lives a few miles from it thinks its a god sent
ReplyDeleteLarry- that is total nonsense
ReplyDeleteother opinions that are different than yours are always nonsense
ReplyDeleteLarry,
ReplyDeleteThat is not what the readers from New Hampshire have been writing in to say. Everyone writes and speaks about it as the most horrid plan made to the top of a once beautiful mountain.
Maybe it looks beautiful in the eye of the owners or developers?
That was Larry's opinion. Can't people have opinions that are different than yours????????
ReplyDeleteYou could start your own website being anti-environment.
ReplyDeleteThis sort of opinion does not really apply here.
not all witches live in Salem
ReplyDeleteYou mean the accused innocent? Its a terrible thing for those souls to go on through history being misrepresented.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are correct. 7 of the innocent were from Lynn, if I am not mistaken. One was the daughter-in-law of a former land owner at Spring Pond.
Actually it was not built on a mountain, maybe a big hill. I'll show you a NH mountain. Many. It was in the middle of Rochester kinda a dumpy town---
ReplyDeleteTruthfully I can put in touch with about 200 people via facebook who live in the area and can give you their honest opinion on it.
ReplyDeleteoh right the Lowe's mailer.. Did you happen to tell the people acres of pristine woods would be cleared? Because the flyer does not mention this. It only shows a young child planting a tree.
ReplyDeleteThe mailer came from out of state. Does the company even know there are many trees on site?
Do you know there is a lot down the street available? But Thomas Kennedy said it would be "too expensive to clean".
Did you know it would be less expensive to clean than facing the 5 year battle in court?
The battle lines are drawn. Save trees or not. We don't need to be in touch with those who do not care about the environment.
There is not much to learn from a group like this.
The funny thing with facebook- whoever is responsible for the several accounts that tried to befriend me, you did one thing wrong.
ReplyDeleteTry not making your profile information the same on all accounts.... created on the same date. Real smart.
And you can show me 10,000 people who want a Lowe's and Walmart.
ReplyDeleteIt still doesn't make it the right site. For the impact and loss it will bring... not worth it.
This is only info about the one in Rochester. I'd get you in touch with the people direct but I think the NH people are pretty blunt. They are a rough around the edges the hill billies. ;) Real NH people not some Mass transplants.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a mountain that I do know. They blasted out some ledge and its helped create alot of jobs in the area and the surrounding community needed it since it has grown so much. Its almost no mans land out there.
Lady - this is Massachusetts.
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference between NH and here when it comes to jobs.
Mass doesn't need these stores. We already have them.
Lowe's plot to take down Home Depot, doesn't really register as creating new jobs.
I know. I was simply speaking and responding to the NH Lowes post.
ReplyDeleteJust making sure the facts or opinions are both there.
Yes you are right there is already a Walmart on Highland Ave-
Sorry whats the convo going on about the mailer and FB accounts?
Yes- Its not so much an issue with Walmart, if they can just renovate the box they have, and not blast the hillsides (because of a few reasons that will affect a few important resources). I would like to discuss with a Walmart rep if given the chance.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest problem- is with the new location of Lowe's.
Regarding the mailer, Lowe's sent one to Salem and Lynn residents stating a bunch of half truth information why a store here would be great, asking to sign a letter of support. There were a few letters written in the paper in disappointment to the mailer (and posted here).
Regarding my cyber stalker, I don't know what the deal was, but it toned down and facebook handled the matter.
